Top 10 Curly Hair Mistakes
1: you wash your hair too often.- over washing depletes the natural oils in each strand. Consider shampooing once a week and co-washing(rinsing thoroughly and using conditioner)in between.
2: you comb your hair -if you have to, use a wide tooth comb or your fingers to prevent breakage. I also prefer the wetbrush pro.
3: you do not use a deep conditioner -curly hair tends to be on the dry side which leads to brittle, which leads to breakage. Using a deep conditioner once a week is a good way to keep your hair soft and hydrated.
4: you sleep with wet hair. - your hair can’t breathe, wet hair is more fragile as it stretches and breaks it can also alter the definition of your hair
5: you do not protect your hair at night. - sleeping with your hair in a bonnet or using a satin pillowcase can help your hair retain moisture so it’s less dry and matted in the morning.
6: you do not fully detangle your hair with conditioner - fully detangled hair, less breakage.
7: you use products that have sulphates in them. - sulphates weakens the hair strand.
8: you do not use a diffuser. While air drying is the safest way to protect curls, if you’re in a hurry, use a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment.
9. You do not air dry. - safest way, also more curl definition.
10. Tying your hair tight in the same spot repeatedly. -you work out a lot?… you work in a restaurant or a hospital? Don’t get into a habit of tying up your hair tight in the same spot… Not only is it really hard on the hair.
(because we usually do that when it’s wet) doing that in the same spot all the time, every day is going to create breakage in that particular area. (You work too hard to grow your hair to be your own worst enemy when it comes to this!)
